During my staycation I made it a point to get to some of the best and most unique places for some good eats! My first stop was Sweetcatch Poke on Lexington Avenue in NYC.
Simple, yet complex in flavor, poke is a quintessential Hawaiian comfort food that harmoniously combines the flavors of the land and sea. Chef Lee Anne Wong (Top Chef, Koko Head Café) has created a variety of signature poke that showcases the myriad of flavors unique to Hawaii using the freshest, high-quality fish and produce. Eating clean doesn’t have to mean eating bland and boring food. Sweetcatch poke bowls are a flavorful substitute for salads and a fun alternative to your average rice bowl. You can expect a bold taste of Aloha in every bite! And that’s exactly what I had to chance to do. I did a little digging and got some info on the chef too: Chef Lee Anne Wong is a veteran of global cuisine who has previously lent her talents to programs such as ‘Top Chef’ and ‘No Reservations’. She is driving force behind the iconic Island-style brunch house, Koko Head Café in Hawaii. Lee Anne gained popularity on Top Chef and Iron Chef America and is an alum of The French Laundry, Nobu and Aquavit.
Everything was delicious – you could totally taste the freshly caught fish, marinated to perfection and served over your choice of white or brown rice ( i had brown- watching myself, sometimes) the yummy sauces and toppings.
We had the Classic Hawaiian Shoyu and the Spicy Yuzu. I miss them as I’m writing this. Talk about healthy, tasty and quick. Just the right amount of Aloha in a New York minute!! Oh and you can order online if you’re in the NYC area. YES! Thank you Sweetcatch~!
